5x detailed research into teaser trailers

Toy story 3 – Trailer
This trailer is 2 minutes

The sound in this teaser is very natural as it shows lots of the different voices and the characters which are being played. It also has different music for all the different scenarios and all the characters are in different situations. It changes when they storyline takes a turn for the worse and this shows how the music which they use can show a large part in what the genre of the film is going to be.

The mise-en-scene for this film is very similar to the other toy story films and this is what you come to expect when you now see a toy story film and this includes all the characters which you see, a friendly village and the other characters which they come to meet during the film.

The editing in this trailer is that in the beginning all of the scenes fade out on after the other and this is because there are slow paced scenes but then as the action starts to build up it becomes so that the shots directly cut into each other. It also blurs out some of the sections when the main attraction is the characters and this means that the main focus is the characters.

The camera shots which are used are mostly close ups and long shots which are used for two totally different purposes and these purposes are that the close ups are used to show the character emotions and their reactions and the long shots are used to establish the scenario around them. The main camera movement is the following of characters and the zooming out/in and this is to show more detail of the characters or the scenario around them.

The characters that we are introduces to first are the characters which can be recognised as being the same in all of the toy story films and this already gives us an idea of what is going to be in the film. People who see these characters can relate them straight to this film and this shows how easily recognised they are.

The narrative which we see is that they have left the original scenario which people are most used too for all of the toy story movies and this shows how they were taking a chance in showing a new place for them to be but by the feedback people really enjoyed it.

The target audience for this film is everyone and this is because people of a young age enjoy seeing the toys and them coming to life because they can relate that back to reality. Teenagers enjoy seeing these films because they can relate it to their childhood where they remember seeing the toy story films and enjoying them as young children. The adults also enjoy them because they have a good sense of humour which can appeal to people of all ages and they may also remember watching these films with their children.

The companies which have helped in producing the film are ‘Walt Disney Pictures’ and ‘Pixar animation’. ‘Walt Disney Pictures’ are very popular in producing films which are of action or cartoon films and the most popular of these include: Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Pirates of the Caribbean and Alice in Wonderland. This shows how they produce some of the most popular films of all time and people recognise them by their style of how they use the scene around them to represent the characters.

The titles and text can also be related to the series of toy story films and this is shown by the unique style which the text is created in as it is related to the cartoon genre and is also in bright colours so it can be noticed by everyone. The text throughout the film also uses the same style of text as people can relate the text to what the film is.
