5x detailed research into teaser trailers

Inception Teaser

This Teaser is 15 Seconds

The sound in the inception teaser is very well built up as it starts off with a slow beat and then builds up as it moves on. It builds up suspension as there are calm voices as the beginning and then builds up to someone shouting which shows the build up of tension.

The mise en scene is the scenario of the future where people can control each other through their minds and this is shown by the way that they can control people while floating in mid air so that their dreams can be intercepted. The scene is in an American city and this is shown by the tall building which surrounds the area. The outfits are relating to that of what a large organisation would use.

The editing in this teaser trailer is the main aspect as it is dominant in the way that it represents which film it is. People can recognise the film through the fact that this film is the only one to base a storyline around the interception of dreams as it is an original idea which has produced a new film.

The camera angles which are used in the film are mainly extreme long shots and close ups and these give two totally different perspectives and this is because the extreme long shots show what is happening to this world. The close ups show the characters perspectives and also their facial expressions. The camera movement is very minimum as it wants to show you the perspective from someone’s view and you can see the full effect of what is happening in the background if it is all in focus and is also easy to view.

The first character that we are introduced to is also the main character but this can be shown by the quote ‘You ask me for inception, I do hope you understand the gravity of that request’ this shows that they are relying on him to fulfil the main task of the film ‘to intercept’.

The only part of the narrative that we see is the parts where people’s dreams are being intercepted and this shows what the film is going to be based around.

The target audience for this film is very wide ranged and I think that it does this because the wider audience means that there is more chance of appealing to a wider audience. It fits in with the genre of action, sci-fi as it has action throughout the film and also has an aspect of sci-fi because of how it is based in the future.

The companies which are involved with this film are ‘Warner Bro’s’ ‘Legendary Pictures’ and ‘Syncopy’ and these are all very big companies and the first of these is ‘Warner bro’s’ which specialises in films in three main genres of cartoon, action and comedy and some of their biggest films include: Looney Tunes, Harry Potter, Police Academy and Tomb Raider and this shows how they have a history in creating some of the most popular films ever so they would be able to take on this project for this new idea of a film. The second company is ‘Legendary Pictures’ which specialise in comedy and action films and their biggest films include: The Dark Knight, The Hangover, The Town and Due Date and this shows how they all have the same style for all their films as they base it around a storyline which can all be connected at the end of the film. The third company is ‘Syncopy’ and this company specialises in assisting ‘Legendary Pictures’ in its movies and this has been shown through films like: The Dark Knight, Batman Begins and Inception.

The titles and text are in bold writing and they are also in dark colours which shows a style of formal and the only text which is in a different colour is the text ‘is real’ and this shows how the future could be based around this and it’s not all just one made up film.
