The sound in this teaser is very slow and dramatic because this film is themed around the genre of horror and has a slight backdrop of comedy just to keep people enticed into the film. The sound is also the characters voices as they all respond differently to these scenarios and the killers voice of ‘what’s your favourite scary movie’ can keep people scared for this movie but as it keeps them scared they are also interested in the film.
The mise-en-scene in this teaser is what you expect from a scream film as there are a wide variety of characters that have totally different background but they all try and act in the same scene as if it was a stereotypical American high school. Everything in the scene includes all of the clues which link and can show who the murderer is.
The editing in this teaser is that it starts off with fades between the scenes and it then changes when the murders start to occur and this change to where there are direct cuts between the scenes and this builds up suspense because the scenes are also shorter and have quicker bursts.
The camera angles change throughout the scenes but lots of the shots are with the main character at the front with a large space being shown in the background where the killer can sneak up behind and can easily be seen in the camera. There are also lots of angles where he camera is looking down on the character and this can also be showing the killer behind the character.
The introduction the characters happens when the teaser first starts but these are some of the minor characters and this can be told because they only appear this one time in the teaser and you can tell who the main characters are because they appear 3+ times in this 30 second teaser and this means that you are easily able to recognise who will be involved in the plot.
The narrative of this film is that there is a killer who is re-producing the scenario of killings which happened a long time ago and this is told by a news reporter and this gives you a large hint of what is going to be involved in the film and this means that people will be able to work out what is happening in the film with having only seen the trailer.
The target audience for this film is specific as it is for people who enjoy horror films which have more gore and also enjoy humorous parts rather than just a whole film about the horror side. The exact audience would be people aged 16-30 as these are of the ages which they are most interested in these types of films. The main gender would be male because they are dominantly the ones who enjoy horror films which make people jump whereas women enjoy films more related to the theme of romance.
The company which produced this film is ‘Dimension Films’ and these are a big company for the horror films and scream series and some of their most popular films include: ‘Cursed’, ‘Beowulf’ and the ‘Scary Movie’ series which was one of the most popular series of horror films. This shows how they are able to target a specific audience while still making huge profits from very popular films.
The titles and text of this teaser look as though they are related back to the scenario which the characters are in and the title has a very bold font which shows how people want it to stand out from the background and the white text on black is the colour which stands out the most.
